Maritime Welding Technology
This diploma program offers training in the practical aspects of construction and repair of equipment and structures built with steel. In addition to structural skills, students will learn to weld pipe in multiple positions. Instruction is presented in both classroom and laboratory using modern welding equipment and tools.
- Students receive classroom and laboratory training using modern welding equipment and tools.
- Students gain hands on experience in a realistic shop setting where they must demonstrate specific proficiencies.
- Emphasis is placed on safety and standard procedures followed in ship yards and repair facilities.
Program content provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for entry-level employment as a combination structural and pipe welder.

ATI welding students are encouraged to earn American Welding Society (AWS) Qualifications and Certifications while in school. Below is a list of AWS Qualifications and Certifications that ATI students have the opportunity to earn while in school.

- Students attend class four (4) days per week on various schedules.
- Program length is approximately 15 months (including breaks and holidays) – all schedules.
- At the successful completion of the program, the student will receive a Diploma in Maritime Welding Technology.

AWS certifications offer validation of a welder’s skills which can enhance employment opportunities.
Certified Welders interested in improving their skills, learning new processes, and earning a degree may also receive transfer credits towards ATI’s Maritime Welding Programs!
